Transit zones fill up near Keleti, Nyugati railway stations

Budapest (MTI) – The transit zones opened for migrants near Budapest’s Keleti and Nyugati railway stations became full by Friday afternoon as more illegal migrants had gathered there than earlier, public news channel M1 said.

Hundreds of migrants have gathered next to both railway stations, far more than at the time of the opening of the zones a few weeks ago.

A voluntary organisation is distributing food and clothes in one of the underpasses next to Keleti railway station; this is sometimes accompanied by a scramble, the reporter said.

Migrants interviewed by the reporters at both locations said they did not intend to stay in Hungary but wanted to travel on to western Europe, mostly to Germany.
