You do not have to wait much longer, the opening time of Madame Tussauds Budapest is almost here, and the first tickets have become available. The world-famous exhibition will open its doors to tourists in 2023. 

Budapest will be the world’s first Madame Tussauds franchise location

So far, all such panopticons have been and are currently owned by the central rights holder, the British Merlin Entertainments. However, in Budapest, there will be Hungarian owners who pay a franchise fee for the use of the right, reports Telex. Therefore, Budapest counts as the first Madame Tussauds franchise location. In Acton, West London, in the only functioning figure manufactory, 50 “handmade” dolls are being made for Budapest. The Hungarian operating company is Dorottya Experience Kft.

International superstars and world-famous Hungarians

In addition to international superstars, visitors can admire the wax figures of world-famous Hungarians. The wax figures displayed in museums around the world are very expensive, they cost about EUR 250,000 (HUF 101 million) each, writes Pénzcentrum. The wax figures are not only expensive, but also time-consuming to create. Making a single wax figure takes about 350 hours. In the London studio, 4 artists work on one piece for months. However, is has not been revealed yet which stars will have a wax figure at the exhibition.

If you would like to visit the famous exhibition in Budapest, you should prepare for horror prices! You can purchase a Christmas gift voucher as early as 15 and 16 February, 2023, before the official ticket sales start, with priority online booking. The advantage of this is that you are among the first people to choose the time of your visit. According to vg.hu, the VIP gift voucher for one person costs HUF 8,990 (EUR 22,25), the VIP child gift voucher HUF 7,190 (EUR 17,79). Furthermore, the family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) costs HUF 24,990 (EUR 61,85) and can be purchased online.

Near Vienna, there is another panopticon, where you can see the exhibition in advance for EUR 21.60, so almost HUF 9,000. If you do not buy your ticket in advance, you can go in for EUR 24, i.e. about HUF 10,000. In Amsterdam, the entrance fee is EUR 22 in advance, i.e. about HUF 10,000.
