The business journal Heti Világgazdaság lists at the end of each year the best Hungarian universities for the coming year. This year, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), the University of Szeged and the University of Debrecen are among the top, as Eduline reports. ELTE also excels when it comes to a detailed list containing the faculties.
According to Eduline, the Eötvös Loránd University has proved to be the best Hungarian university once again, also being the best from the point of view of professor excellence. The second best in this aspect is the University of Szeged and the third is the University of Debrecen. Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Semmelweis University came fourth.

In the overall ranking, the sixth place is divided between two institutions as well: between the Pázmány Péter Catholic University and the University of Pécs.
Even though the Corvinus University of Budapest ranked quite low in professor excellence, they are first when it comes to student excellence.
Similarly, the National University of Public Service ranked 14th in professor excellence, but their students ranked 5th.
The list is broken down into a further division, ranking the faculties. On this list, the Faculty of Humanities of ELTE is first, followed by another ELTE faculty, the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The third place is occupied by the General Medicine faculty of Semmelweis University.
Several factors are given attention during the compilation of this ranking, such as the applicants who had these particular universities as their first choice, the average admission score, the number of accepted students who have a language certificate, the number of students participating in study competitions, the number and rate of professors with an academic degree, the number of students per each professor with an academic degree and the rate of professors holding an MTA (Magyar Tudományos Akadémia, Hungarian Academy of sciences) title.
