Isaach De Bankole, the American actro known for his roles in Ghost Dog, Manderlay and Casino Royale has recently starred in a Hungarian film: Szabolcs Hajdu, one of Hungary’s most accomplished directors chose him for the leading role of his new film ’Mirage’, reports life.hu.
Hajdu is not the first director to work with a famous, internationally recognized actor. ’Lora’, a film by Gabor Herendi was a succes in Hungarian cinemas in 2006, despite of the fact that the melodrama is not a widely known genre in the country. The actress had played the title role was Lucia Brawley, an American actress, who later played in ’A Kind of America ’, another successful film by Gabor Herendi.
The director’s original choice for Lora’s leading role was Eszter Ónodi, but the Hungarian actress had to turn the role down due to her pregnancy, says life.hu. Herendi had only two weeks to find somebody for the role, and he decided to work with Lucia Brawley, who had worked in ’World Trade Center’ previously. Brawley starred along Peter Nagy, Erno Fekete, Zsofia Szamosi and Kata Bartsch in the film.
