(MTI) – This year’s Budapest Spring Festival offers a number of outdoor programmes that include a spring celebration parade and a gastronomy tour.
Dancers, singers, stilt walkers and music bands will leave in three groups from three different spots in the inner city to join up for a group act at Heroes’ Square on Saturday, organisers said. An ArtSquare Festival featuring the renowned folk group Muzsikas as well as the Budapest Bar formation will take place at different venues of the Gozsdu Passage, the Ankert Club and the City Hall Park on March 30.
On the three Sundays of the Spring Festival a guided cultural and gastronomy tour will explore Budapest’s Jewish quarter. On the closing weekend on April 5-6, a spring fair will take place at central Vorosmarty Square.
The 34th Budapest Spring Festival between March 21 and April 6 will offer 172 events at 58 venues including classical and contemporary music, theatre and fine arts.
Some of the highlights of this year’s festival include US composer and pianist Philip Glass, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta, an exhibition of self-portraits from Florence’s Uffizi and the first Madach Imre International Theatre Festival.
