Business online Forbes reports that a Hungarian sound engineer has just won a Creative Arts Emmy award. Tamás Csaba won as a part of the sound mixer team comprised of Bob Bronow and Mark Hansley, which worked on the TV series Genius: Picasso.

As we have written previously, the second season of National Geographic’s critically acclaimed TV-series, Genius, was filmed partly in Hungary. The series produced by Pioneer Productions has won the most important TV award in the ‘Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Limited Series Or Movie’ category.

Genius: Picasso is the continuation of National Geographic’s biopic series, Genius.

The first season centred on Albert Einstein, while the second one on the Spanish visual artist, Pablo Picasso, portrayed by Antonio Banderas.

Tamás Csaba was in charge of sound records during the filming in Hungary. Previously he has worked on films such as Inferno, 47 Ronin or Robin Hood.

Although series like Unknown Parts (6 awards) by Anthony Bourdain, Game of Thrones (7 awards) and American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace (4 awards) won several awards, this kind of recognition of a Hungarian sound engineer is important for the future of Hungarian film production.

The Emmy Awards gala will take place on the 17th of September. Genius: Picasso is nominated for seven Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Limited Series, while Antonio Banderas is nominated for Lead Actor.
