New Traffic Control System

Police are testing a new traffic control system. István Jámbor, the head of the traffic olice department announced that 160 movable cameras has been distributed throughout the country, and 130 fixed cameras will be installed by the end of the year.

Accordint to MTI, during the tests in February, no fine will be imposed on drivers in case of speeding. However, the authority still uses the old equipment, and imposes fine on drivers based on them. The new cameras will be used permanently after March.

In addition to speefing, the new devices can also be used for traffic count, and license plate recognition. After April, two additional functions will be used: driving through the red light and crossing the white line will also be watched. With the help of an additional manual device, police will be able to detect wanted cars, expired validity of vehicle safety, or the lack of insurance. The system is also suitable for controlling the use of bus lanes, and checking the use of the safety belt.

István Jámbor said that the new project is of key importance in reducing the number of road accidents and injuries. Within the framework of the development, the police plan to build a preventive system that is unique in Europe. The first step is the test and the use of the new, movable cameras.

The new devices are located throughout the country, and the fixed cameras will also be located throughout the country, to watch 365 lanes.
