Recently, those who live or walk by the Danube in Budapest might have encountered a strange ‘phenomenon’. Many hotels send message to healthcare workers with lit windows that form a huge heart, wishing them strength, health and safety, 24 reported.
Health workers are at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus. Every day they struggle to get the best possible care for those who are infected. The residents of the countries concerned will not forget about this either: in Italy, the work of doctors and nurses is thanked for by a public evening clapping. This movement has started in Hungary as well, and everyone is encouraged to clap at 8 in the evening for healthcare workers. Donations are also arranged in many countries to provide them with the necessary equipment. In Hungary, for example, more and more restaurants are offering healthcare workers free meals.
Marriott and InterContinental have lit up their hotel’s rooms for the past couple of nights so that those windows form a heart together. This is to thank the healthcare workers for their persistent work. Since then, Mercure Hotel has joined them, and InterContinental is doing the same in Frankfurt.
InterContinental Budapest writes the following on their Facebook page:
“Sending a light of hope as a sign of our appreciation to all those out there helping in times of need. Thank you❣”
There is another interesting initiative. It is from Italy, and as Hvg reported, it might have reached Budapest. In many Italian cities and towns, people entertain each other with concerts and sing-alongs held on their own balconies. The idea to hold similar ‘events’ seems to have reached the Hungarian capital. It is a sweet and heart-warming way to entertain and bring people together who are staying in their homes.
Ádám Móser will perform a short live concert every day from 5 pm as it can be read on his Facebook page:
“Hopefully I will be able to share these short concerts on my webpage and here. I would like to ask everyone to follow them online and to take care of each other. Everyone should stay home. I will play a few songs every day. Thanks! Take care!”
