Blikk wrote that Judit Varga, Hungary’s Justice Minister, was among the partakers of a concert in Mezőkövesd. The performers were the Korda couple, Klára and György Korda (Klári&Gyuri), who arrived in the city accepting the invitation of the event’s organiser, the MP of the region and secretary of state András Tállai.
The Hungarian version of the ‘gangster song’ is about something else
The 84-year-old star singer, Gyuri Korda, learned before the concert that Mrs Varga would be there. Thus, he sang his personal favourite to her during the concert. The song was Korda’s famous “Gyengéden ölelj át és ringass, szerelem!” (“Gently cuddle me and rock me, my love”), which you probably know if you heard about or watched the Godfather movies. In popular culture, the song is known as a ‘gangster song’, even though the Hungarian version is about love and desire. Here is the original video of the song:

The original song was composed by Nino Rota. The Hungarian version, written by Zsuzsa Váradi, appeared on Gyuri Korda’s Golden Album in 1982, blikk.hu wrote. Here is the original one:
Varga: Belgian foreign, European affairs minister visits Budapest
Hadja Lahbib, Belgium’s Foreign and European Affairs Minister, had visited Hungary, Judit Varga, Hungary’s Justice Minister, said on Tuesday, noting that it was the first time the relevant Belgian minister had visited Budapest since 2011. Tasks under the Spanish-Belgian-Hungarian EU presidency were the main subject of discussion as Hungary will assume the presidency in the second half of 2024 after Belgium, Varga said on Social Media. Varga emphasised the need to boost the European economy’s competitiveness and for the EU to assume greater responsibility for its security. Hungary wants closer cooperation in defence policy and to strengthen the European defence sector’s industrial and technological base, she said.
Lahbib agreed with Varga on the need to better coordinate EU migration policy with respect to movements beyond the bloc’s borders. Regarding energy security and the war in Ukraine, Varga said Hungary’s standpoint was straightforward: striving for a quick ceasefire and peace negotiations was preferable to sanctions.
Here are some photos:
On the subject of the rule of law, Varga stressed the importance of clarity. The rule of law in Hungary must not be judged solely on the basis of the opinions of biased NGOs, she said. Meetings such as the one she held with the Belgian minister were important, she added, so sides that were genuinely open to dialogue could familiarise themselves with and understand each other’s positions. Lahbib, she said, had been an excellent partner in this respect and others.
Here is a video of their meeting:
He sang it because it’s the Fidesz gang anthem.
What “gangster song”?!
The English version may be the theme from Godfather, but it’s about LOVE.
By choosing the Theme from the Godfather, was Gyuri infering that “here’s a woman who will do something about crime”? But it IS a LOVE SONG and we should NOT read anything else into it.
“Speak softly, love
And hold me warm against your heart
I feel your words
The tender trembling moments start
We’re in a world, our very own
Sharing a love that only few have ever known
Wine-colored days warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights when we are one
Speak softly, love
So no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love
We make will live until we die
My life is yours and all because
You came into my world with love so softly love
Wine-colored days warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights when we are one
Speak softly, love
So no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make will live until we die
My life is yours and all because
You came into my world with love so softly love”
What happened to that reporter in Italy Judit?
Ps.
To me THIS > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P042MxBzDnU is the “Gansta Song” or pehaps THIS > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPO76Jlnz6c one, and somehow I just can’t imagine Mr Korda singing either of these to (or in the presence of) the Justice Minister. 😀
Pps. That particular Andy Williams song is also known as the “LOVE Theme from the Godfather”.
– Let’s just leave it at that.
