Hungarian charities ship aid worth HUF 100m to West Ukraine

Budapest, June 1 (MTI) – Hungarian charities have put on wheels 100 million forints (EUR 324,000) worth of aid to be provided to people in western Ukraine, a senior official of the Hungarian Reformed Charity said on Monday.

The aid consignment containing durable food, medical equipment and sanitary supplies is being delivered to locals by eight lorries, Sandor Pal, the head of the charity’s board, told public news channel M1.

The donations were also raised by the Catholic, Maltese and Baptist charities, the Hungarian Red Cross and the Federation of Hungarian Jewish Communities (Mazsihisz), Gabor Ecsi, leader of the Catholic Charity, told the programme.

Sponsors of the transport include the foreign and the human resources ministries, and the Ukrainian minority self-government in Hungary, he said.
