The Brazilian doctor was accused of sexual harassment and later arrested by authorities. The doctor treated Hungarian patients as well. Among his victims, there is a 14-year-old girl and a woman who was forced to have oral sex to make sure she gets better.

Magyarországom reported that Joao Teixeira de Faria (77), who was introduced to the world as a miracle doctor, was accused by more than a hundred women. According to Faria, God heals people, not him. Faria claims to be a doctor, but on some occasions, he was also introduced as a medium and a Roman Catholic priest.

Faria never finished secondary school and does not have a degree in medicine.

Faria welcomed patients in Brazil’s Goiás state in Abadiânia, which is a small town in the south-western part of this region. At the end of 2018, the scandal was started by a woman who reported that the man was harassing her sexually. After this incident, several similar reports were heard by other patients. Many stated that the doctor forced them to have sex, and in one case, one woman was told that she could only be healed if she had oral sex with Faria.

Faria was also accused by her own 50-year-old daughter, who stated that her father hurt her physically in the past, and she often became a victim of rape. Faria was arrested on December 10, 2018.

Many Hungarians reported that they or their relatives have the Brazilian doctor to thank their lives. Moreover, there were some travel agencies which organised trips to the doctor himself. Many people were not shocked by the incidents that happened as they keep on stating that the doctor heals cancer, AIDS, and many other severe illnesses. One of them is a Hungarian dentist who visited the doctor because of her sight. She explained that he did an invisible surgery on her, and later on, the dentist did not need her glasses anymore.

Faria also treated patients like Oprah Winfrey and the prime minister of Peru, Alberto Fujimori.
