Opposition Tisza Party and Democratic Coalition (DK) MEPs have backed a “pro-war resolution” calling for the delivery of “even more weapons” to Ukraine, Kinga Gál, the Fidesz-KDNP European Parliament delegation’s head, said in Strasbourg after an EP plenary session on Thursday.
The resolution allowing EU member states to approve the use of weapons systems received from Western countries to attack legitimate military targets in Russia “is unacceptable”, she said, arguing that the measure would lead to a “real and serious escalation of the war”.
Also, the text “makes a baseless attack on Hungary” and its “pro-peace position”, she added.
“Rather than fan the flames of war, it’s time for a ceasefire and to make diplomatic contact with a view to starting peace negotiations,” Gal said.
She accused the “pro-war” European People’s Party (EPP) led by Manfred Weber of whipping up war sentiment, while Tisza Party and DK MEPs also backed “the pro-war proposals”. She added that they wanted the Hungarian government to change its standpoint and support the financing of arms shipments to Ukraine.
“Without question, we condemn Russia’s aggression and back Ukraine’s territorial unity, and we’re providing large-scale humanitarian aid. But we’re no closer to ending the war … more than half a million people have perished and the Ukrainian economy is in ruins,” she said.
The EP resolution proposal to deploy additional Western weapons in Russia “will lead to a serious escalation and Europe drifting into war”, she said.

Guarantee of non-expansion of NATO
Washington D.C., December 12, 2017 – U.S. Secretary of State James Baker’s famous “not one inch eastward” assurance about NATO expansion in his meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev on February 9, 1990, was part of a cascade of assurances about Soviet security given by Western leaders to Gorbachev and other Soviet officials throughout the process of German unification in 1990 and on into 1991, according to declassified U.S., Soviet, German, British and French documents posted today by the National Security Archive at George Washington University (http://nsarchive.gwu.edu).
The US signed a non-expansion treaty on behalf of NATO. Ukraine, US, EU, UK. NATO countries were all aware of this treaty. Once the Soviet Union broke up, NATO expansion went into overdrive. Ukraine was aware of this treaty yet decided to break it. So what, Zelensky did not care that Ukraine will be destroyed. Zelensky had the support of the Ukrainians, Zelensky failed to believe that Russia will attack. Since the war is with the support of Ukrainians they should enjoy every minute.
What is the lesson to be learned, Treaties between the West, NATO and EU are not worth the paper that they are written on. The warring nations are willing to burrow billions and stick the taxpayers with the debt, there-by making nations poorer. Poor nations are easier to control, especially 26% of
American people who cannot provide food for their family every day, yet they work fulltime jobs. People should not let themselves brainwashed by war mongers breaking existing treaties.
It seems only Hungarian People, China, N. Korea and Iran honor treaties.
Do not elect warmongers. Remember, money should not be wasted on a foreign unjust war.
It’s not that they’re necessarily “pro-war”; it’s that they are beholden to foreign interests and agitators who ARE pro-war, instead of standing up for the interests of Hungary and Hungarians first, foremost, and solely.
A war with Russia, even indirectly, or a continued war in Ukraine, are NOT in the interests of this country or its people. But, of course, when you are financed by the E.U.trash and get your orders from Soros and Schwab, you don’t care about that.
You´d think Mr. Putin´s Russia would be more amenable, with statistics being what they are and a “special military operation” that was supposed to last months, not years:

Or just hit civilians – that appears to be part of Russia´s game plan:

And Ukraine attacking legitimate military targets in Russia. Well. That is just ungentlemanly, no? According to our Politicians, the war should be limited to “just” Ukrainian soil. Interesting take.
Also consider the proposed policy of appeasement (or “Peace!” as our Politicians would frame it). Giving an autocracy what it wants when they use force always works a treat! If only a piece of Ukraine gets offered up – Mr. Putin would be pleased and everyone would live, happily ever after. Right? Just like Crimea…
Explains why Sweden and Finland, after 75 years of neutrality, chose to join NATO. They obviously don´t know Mr. Putin and his clique like our Politicians do.
@mariavontheresa – appears Mr. Gorbachev was blissfully unaware of your revisionist history re NATO accepting former members of the Warsaw Pact (including Hungary) – a myth and Kremlin talking point that NATO promised not to expand eastwards after the Soviet Union dissolved.

For more joy – please consider this:
“The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine. ”
And it unravels from there – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine_and_weapons_of_mass_destruction
Unfortunately, it appears you do not believe in people´s right of self-determination, territorial integrity, or democracy (authoritarianism is so much more efficient, right). And sovereignty only when it suits your arguments. NATO’s open door is an open door. It is how we joined NATO. For good reason. Let´s not pretend otherwise. And Ukraine deserves to defend its territory and independence – by any means at its disposal, subject to international law and treaties.
Oh. Still waiting for Mr. Putin´s retaliation for Sweden and Finland joining NATO, by the way.
Did you read the treaty and do the words “no expansion” needs to be explained to you Norbert? Boy, some people will never accept reality, it offends their naivete.
