The prestigious competition called Monde Selection recently took place, where 70 expert judges found the quality of a number of Hungarian wines extraordinary, awarding three of them grand gold quality labels.

The annual competition first started in 1961, with 28 countries competing. According to Szeretlekmagyarorszag, altogether seven grand gold quality labels are up for grabs. This year, three of them went to Hungarian wine producers, while four other “regular” golds were also awarded to Hungarian wines.

Hungarians did extraordinarily well at the international competition. Two wine producers received grand gold quality labels while several others got gold qualifications. Varga Winery, one of the winners of the grand gold, is a first-time winner of the highest qualification, yet right away, they received two of the prestigious award. One of their products called Royal Egri Hárslevelű already won gold medals in Paris and Berlin about a month ago.
