Best ice cream spots in Budapest – PHOTOS

What is your favourite ice cream flavour? ???? #DailyNewsHungary #Hungary #Budapest

Slowly, summer is officially here, which means it is time for city walks and ice creams. Fortunately, the Hungarian capital is an excellent destination in both aspects.

In Hungary, more than 4 million people have already received at least the first dose of the vaccine; moreover, among the first in the EU, 16-18-year-olds get vaccinated as well. Vaccination of foreigners will also begin soon. Another important change is that summer is approaching, the days are getting longer, and the weather is getting warmer. Thanks to this, hopefully, we can return to our old life step by step.

For summer, the perfect program proposal is to combine a walk in Budapest with an ice cream. We will try to help you by selecting the best ice cream spots in the Hungarian capital.

We will start our list right away with a little cheating because Anjuna is not the classic ice cream with a cone. Anjuna Ice Pop is a vegan chopstick ice cream made from fruit and plant-based milk. They have several shops in Budapest, one of which is only a few minutes’ walk from St. Stephen’s Basilica. In stores, you can choose from three dips and eight different topping extras for ice creams. If you are walking with your dog, he will not be left out of the fun either, as Anjuna also makes Pupsicles for dogs.

From the operating couple, the wife procures the ingredients, while the Italian husband ensures the perfect Italian ice cream quality. Dolce Intervallo is perfect for those who cannot decide which flavour they should choose, as you can order a layered ice cream here consisting of three flavours, or you can also order half scoops.

Their options are constantly renewed; however, public favourites such as pistachio and salted caramel are often found. The ice cream spot is close to the Danube bank in Pest, so you are guaranteed to enjoy the flavours in a marvellous environment.

Daubner Confectionery

You can taste very delicious ice creams not only in Pest but also in Buda. Daubner Confectionery is best-known for its cakes and ice cream cakes; however, normal ice creams will not disappoint you either. They also offer poppy seed, Sacher cake, or Somlói flavours. Daubner has been around for over 100 years, and the experience can be felt in every bite.

Finally, we visit the Erdős and Sons Confectionery on the Buda side of Budapest. Among others, Oreo, Mozart, pumpkin seed, violet, and Irsai Olivér ice cream flavours are also available here. This year’s innovations also include baked plums and chamomile-flavoured ice cream. About 20 of their more than 200 ice cream recipes are available at once, so it is worth visiting them several times so you can taste as many flavours as you want.

  1. The best Ice cream in Hungary is not found in Budapest, you need to travel to Debrecen and visit mignon cukraszda. They make and serve the best Ice cream you can taste!

  2. There are a number of people (a growing number) including myself who refuse to use Facebook. Unless the DNH has some advertising deal with this Zuckerberg data harvesting monolith, it would be far better to publish the addresses of these venues along with the descriptions. That is what Kitti Tordai did when publishing much the same article on 10th July 2020 on this very same news platform.
