Tom Jones is indeed a musical wonder in possession of the recipe to success. His musical debut was his band Tommy Scott and the Senators, which was formed in 1963, however, he rose to fame as a solo artist.
His first hit as a solo singer was in 1965 with the song It’s Unusual, and went on writing other hit songs such as Green, Green Grass of Home and Delilah. Since then, he sold 150 million records.
In the 1980’s Jones covered Prince’s Kiss which catapulted him to the top of the hit lists, selling millions of records worldwide. Younger generations might remember him for his bops from the nineties, like If I Only Knew or Sexbomb.
Jones has a taste for the screen too, having had his own talk show in the United Kingdom and the US also, along with a cinematic role in Mars Attacks!
It goes to show much he contributed to the music industry that aside from the several number one hits attached to his name, Jones received a Grammy Award, two Brit Awards and was even awarded an Order of the British Empire in 1999.
The best part, however, is that in 2006 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
