Budapest, September 4 (MTI) – Italy will be the guest of honour at the 23rd Budapest Wine Festival to be held on September 10-14 in the Buda Castle, with a spotlight on barolo, brunello, chianti, prosecco and more, organisers said today.
At the five-day festival, visitors can taste the wines of Italy’s main wine regions ranging from Piedmont to Sicily, they said.
It will feature more than two hundred of Hungary’s vineyards and wines as well. Visitors unfamiliar with the products of Hungarian viniculture, will be able to join thematic tasting routes along the flavours.
The festival will also present Italian cuisine at several stands, as well as offer Hungarian specialties.
During the festival, the Cheese Contest of European Nations will be organised for the second time and the winner be announced on the closing day.
Visitors to the festival will be entertained with concerts by rock and Dixieland bands on the first four days and folk music and dance performances on the last day.
On the festival’s sidelines a vintage parade will be held in the streets of historic Buda Castle.
